MEXICO GOVERNMENT RETURNS ANCIENT IFE BRONZE SCULPTURE TO NIGERIA

On Tuesday 25,2020, the Mexican government returned an Ancient Ife bronze sculpture seized by customs agents at the Benito Juarez International Airport, they revealed this on their official website.

According to the officials, they said just as it was meant to be delivered to the buyer in Mexico it was intercepted at the airport.

The officials said their government is promoting legal measures within the framework of the UNESCO convention on the subject (1970).

They said:
"To which we wish to add a growing number of international partners, and where civil society and the private sector can play a leading role".
