Court withdraws death sentence imposed on Kano singer over blasphemy

A court has reverse death sentence imposed on a Kano state based singer.  

Yahya Sharif was convicted for blasphemy, on Thursday, January 21, Kano state chief Judge Nuraddeen Sagir who delivered the Judgement said the trial was full of irregularities. 

Sagir further explained that the judgement of the upper Sharia court contravened section 2-6-9 of the administration of criminal justice act.

He gave an order that the case be re-tried at the same court and that the appellant should be given fair hearing and legal representation under another judge.
